Tributes paid to 'Remarkable' Carlow man following his passing at 98 years of age

Tributes have been paid following the death of Michael Murphy of Linkardstown, Nurney, Co. Carlow.

Michael passed away in his 98th year surrounding by his loving family.

Predeceased by his beloved son Michael Jnr., his parents Francis & Katie, step-mother Kathleen.

Michael beloved husband of Mary and much loved father of Frank, Denis, Catherine, Mairead & John.

Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife, sons, daughters, sons-in-law Jack & Andrew, daughters-in-law Margaret & Deirdre, Frank's partner Mary, adored grandchildren Michael, Frank, Christopher, Aidan, Brian, Declan, Ellen, Donnacha, Cormac, Aoife, Kate, Michael, Richard, Andrew, Laura, Mai, Séan, Tomás, Ciarán, Darragh, five great-grandchildren, sister Kathleen, Mairéad, nephews, nieces, relatives, kind neighbours, and his many friends.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: "Sincere condolences to Mary, Frank, all the Murphy family and his sister Kathleen on the very sad passing of Michael. A remarkable man and a great age. Great chats we had, especially when we discovered we knew so many of the same people.

Rest in peace Michael."

Another reads: "Sincere condolences to Catherine & all the extended Murphy Family on the sad passing of your beloved father Michael . May the light of heaven shine brightly on him."

A third tribute reads as follows: "Catherine, my sincere condolenced on your dads passing, you always spoke with such love for him. My thoughts are with you, your mum and family at this time."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing in Healy's Funeral Home, Pollerton Castle, Carlow on Sunday from 1pm until 7pm.

Requiem Mass on Monday at 11am in Saint Joseph's Church, Tinryland, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
