Operation Storm took place across Carlow on Tuesday with 28 arrests in total while 12 people were charged for crimes committed in the Carlow District.

Thirty checkpoints were performed and five cars seized for no insurance. 

In addition, Crime Prevention Stands with information on home and personal security in Carlow Shopping Centre and Fairgreen Shopping Centre were held. 

Gardaí said: "Mounted Unit visited Scoop Mhuire, St Lazerians and Tyndall VEC schools. 

"Chief Superintendent Dominic Hayes and Superintendent Aidan Brennan and Inspector Audrey Dormer held a community engagement fora at the Islamic Mosque with Carlow Community Policing Unit."
