An engineering business from Carlow Town is this year's winner of the County Carlow National Enterprise Award for 2019.
Carlow Tooling Making Services Ltd took the top prize of €2,000 and will now represent Carlow County Council's Local Enterprise Office at the 21st National Enterprise Awards on Wednesday, May 29 in the Mansion House in Dublin.
Carlow Toolmaking Services was established in 1995 and provide a top quality, efficient toolmaking service to the oral, medical, pharma, food and automotive industries.
Their range of work includes injection moulds, jigs and fixtures, press tools, prototypes and precision components.
Other winners at the County Enterprise Awards were Newhaven Kitchens & Bedrooms Ltd who won the Innovation in Small Business Award and €1,000, Equinox Education Services Ltd won the Best Export Business Award and €1,000 and Jo Brown who won the Entrepreneurial Vision Award and €1,000
Judging is taking place in April and May and Carlow Tooling Making Services Ltd will be competing against 30 other finalists from every local authority area for a share of the €40,000 prize fund.
The Mansion House in Dublin is the venue for the awards ceremony in May and categories this year include "BestExport Business", "Best Start Up Business" and "Innovation", in addition to eight regional awards.
The County Carlow National Enterprise Awards, organised by the Local Enterprise Office Carlow are taking place as part of Local Enterprise Week 2019.
There are over 370 events taking place across the country for this year’s Local Enterprise Week, being organised by the network of Local Enterprise Offices nationwide.
Speaking during Local Enterprise Week, Kieran Comerford, Head of Enterprise with the Local Enterprise Office (Carlow) said: "Carlow Tooling Making Services Ltd has already become a success story and the judges were particularly impressed by their use of innovation and technology.
"The National Enterprise Awards are a great barometer for what the Local Enterprise Offices are doing and every year the standard is getting better and better and we are delighted to have Carlow Toolmaking Services Ltd representing us in Dublin in May."
Speaking about the awards, Kathleen Holohan, Chief Executive of Carlow County Council said: "The winners represent the quality and innovation of indigenous Small and Medium Enterprises who operate in County Carlow and support thousands of jobs in our local economy.

The awards were just one of the many highlights of Local Enterprise Week, which comes to an end on March 8.
All over the country, the 31 Local Enterprise Offices have been jointly running over 370 events aimed at start-ups, aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses in their area, to mark the week.
