2025 Golden Globes: Irish actors Colin Farrell and Andrew Scott nominated

Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal miss out as nominations are announced for the glitzy awards
Irish actors Andrew Scott and Colin Farrell both received nominations for best actor in a TV show for their shows Ripley and The Penguin as the 2025 Golden Globe nominations were announced in the US on Monday.
Both Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan fell short of receiving a nomination, with Mescal missing out for his role in Gladiator II and Ronan missing out for her turn in The Outrun and Blitz.
Nicola Coughlan also missed out on a nomination for her performance in the Netflix series Bridgerton and there were no nominations either for Small Things Like These starring Cillian Murphy and Eileen Walsh.
Irish film Kneecap was also not among the nominees for best non-English language film despite the film winning in seven categories including best independent film, at the British Independent Film Awards over the weekend.
The film won a best joint lead performance and best debut screenwriter for writer and director Rich Peppiatt.
Last year's Golden Globes showed more success for Irish talent when Cillian Murphy was named best actor in a drama for his role in Oppenheimer, and cinematographer Robbie Ryan won for Poor Things.
The Golden Globe Awards 2025 will be held on Sunday, January 5, and hosted by American comedian Nikki Glaser, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
