ALERT: Met Éireann issues high temperature warning for Ireland amid 27C heat blast

After a very wet and unsettled July and August, fine and largely settled conditions have returned for the first week of September.

Met Éireann have issued a high temperature warning with daytime temperatures in excess of 27 degrees in many areas away from coasts with night time temperatures not falling below 15 degrees.

The warning will remain in place from 8:00am Thursday August 7 to 8:00am Saturday August 9.

They have warned the public of potential impacts including heat stress, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and risk of water related incidents.

Meteorologist with Met Éireann Emer Flood explains; “High pressure looks set to dominate our weather for the rest of the week bringing generally fine and settled conditions. Daytime temperatures will reach into the early twenties for much of the country, with parts of the south midlands reaching 25°C or above. These warm daytime temperatures will be coupled with nighttime temperatures not dropping any lower than the early teens leading to some uncomfortable sleeping conditions in the coming days.”
