Met Éireann has confirmed that the Northern Lights will be visible across Ireland again this evening.

The celestial light show, also known as aurora borealis, lit up the night sky with a display usually reserved for Iceland, Greenland and northern Scandinavia however were visable in Ireland after the most powerful solar storm in more than two decades according to meteorologist's.

Meteorologist Siobhán Ryan with Met Eireann explained last night saw widespread dry and clear conditions, however tonight will be cloudier and affect visibility.

"The potential is there to see this right through the weekend. This is just not a nighttime phenomenon, and it's visible right through the weekend at certain times but the clearer weather will mean better visibility."

The best chance to see the display will be in the early evening and early night in contrast to last night, when the best time to view came closer to midnight.
