Tributes have been pouring in for the “beloved” young man who died after being attacked by two teenagers in Ireland’s capital.

Alex Coughlan was attacked by two boys in their mid-teens in Blanchardstown on Sunday afternoon.

He was found unconscious on Mill Road and was pronounced dead in hospital on Wednesday.

People have been paying tribute to him online, while also condemning the act of violence committed against him.

“As someone who was also recently attacked by feral cowards - and managed to face them down, I only wish I could have been there for you, pal. This is so unfair. Our legislators need to do more to keep decent people safe. I hope your family finds justice and peace,” one person wrote on Rip.ie.

Others described him as “too good for the world” and a “beloved” young life.”

His funeral details will be announced at a later time.

A fundraiser has been organised to assist the deceased’s family with funeral expenses, with over €14,000 raised so far.

Meanwhile, the two teenagers have been arrested as part of the investigation into the incident.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
