'Will they ever learn' Gardaí charge two drivers with checklists of major offences

Laois Roads Policing unit arrested a number of drunk and drug drivers over the bank holiday weekend
An Garda Síochána's Laois Roads Policing unit arrested a number of drunk and drug drivers over a busy bank holiday weekend including one driver who had approached a checkpoint with his seatbelt plugged in behind him in a vehicle that had no tax or NCT.
In social media update, gardaí explained that the driver then failed a roadside drug test for cocaine and opiates and was subsequently arrested. There was a bench warrant in existence and he was kept in custody over the weekend for a special sitting of court on Monday, February 3.
The vehicle was also seized and another driver at a MIT checkpoint failed the roadside alcohol test and was also arrested. The second individual arrested and a quantity of cannabis was also found in the vehicle. The driver later failed a drug test in the station for cocaine and a blood specimen was taken from him.
Prosecutions have commenced in these cases. Gardaí said these are two cases of many from the weekend highlighting "poor driver behaviour we continue to encounter on our roads".
