The WINNER of Carlow's All Time Greats is...
The final poll of Carlow's All Time Greats competition has finished, the voting lines are CLOSED, as they say.
First of all, a huge thank you to our sponsors, Fairgreen Shopping Centre; Fitzpatrick's Garages; O'Reilly Oil; Sherry Fitzgerald McDermott and Woods Contract Cleaners and Maintenance.
Thousands of Carlow Live readers cast their ballots on who should get the title of Carlow's All Time Great over the course of the competition, and hundreds of worthy names were nominated, but in the end there could only be one winner.
Sixteen finalists were reduced down to just two and you decided that Visit Carlow's Kevin Brady should take on sprinter Molly Scott for the crown.
It was neck and neck in the voting since the final pair were announced last week.
Now, Carlow Live can reveal, that the WINNER of the competition and a true Carlow All Time Great is:
The National 60m women's sprint champion pipped Kevin to the post with 56% of the votes while the Scarefest organiser managed a healthy 44% and he of course remains, a true Carlow All Time Great as well.
Molly is a young Carlow All Time Greats champion at just 19-years-old but she has already accomplished so much in her athletics career and has a bright future ahead of her.
She was part of the silver medal winning relay team at the World Under-20 Championships last year and has been rewarded for her excellent form by being picked as part of the Irish team going to the European Indoor Championships.
The St Laurence O'Toole athlete - selected for the women’s 60m race - is among 16 athletes going to the Championships from Ireland, which will take place in the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on March 1 to 3.
