Bagenalstown Fire Brigade battle large wildfire at Mount Leinster with suspected breach of Wildlife act
Carlow County Fire and Rescue Service's were on the scene at a wildfire at the Nine Stones car park on Mount Leinster on Monday the 22nd of April 2024.
Bagenalstown Fire Brigade worked to battle the large wildfire that took place at the aforementioned area of Mount Leinster.
There are suspected breaches of Section 40 of the Wildlife Act 1976.
The act prohibits the cutting, grubbing, burning or other destruction of vegetation growing on "any land not then cultivated" between March 1st and 31st of August annually.
This act aims to protect bird life during nesting season, help prevent forest fire, and protect the vegetation and wildlife habitants during the months of growth and reproduction.
There are suspected breaches of this act and anyone with any information is urge to report it to WildlifeEnforcement@npws.gov.ie or any local Garda Station.
Breaches of Section 40 of the Wildlife Act constitute a wildlife crime and may result in prosecution.
