The incident took place on Thursday May 2nd and Gardaí are appealing for anyone in the area who witnessed the matter to come forward

Carlow Gardaí issue appeal after a man acts aggressively towards young woman in Pollerton

An Garda Síochána, Carlow are appealing for assistance of the public in relation to an incident that occurred at approximately 11am on Thursday, 2nd May 2024 at The Downs Estate, Pollerton Road, Carlow. The incident occurred on the main access road in The Downs Estate as one enters from the Pollerton Road.

Within this incident a young male was behaving aggressively towards a female who was in his company. At one point, he assaulted her.

Male description ; 25-30 yrs old, Height – 6ft approx. Brown hair with “step” cut, Clothing - wearing a blue jacket, with a white emblem on the left breast and left sleeve, and a dark grey tracksuit bottom.

Female description ; 16- 20 yrs old approx., Height – 5ft 6 approx. Long blonde hair, brushed to the front. Clothing - wearing a navy sleeveless anorak, with the hood up, over a beige baggy jumper.

Looking to identify the male and/or the female in this incident to ascertain her safety.

Superintendent Anthony Farrell indicated “this is an isolated incident that occurred in broad daylight in a large residential area in Pollerton. We have concerns that the girl involved in this incident and are trying to reach out to her to see that she is OK. Maybe you were passing the area at the time and saw someone unusual or indeed witnessed the incident. Enquires so far have not identified either person. If you have any information that would support this identification An Garda Síochána Carlow would appreciate a call, 059 - 9136620. Indeed if you are the young woman who was assaulted please have the confidence and trust to come forward and let us know you are OK. “
