Man who suffered tragic accident in Rome returns home to Ireland, confirms Kilkenny girlfriend

Tom Eustace suffered the life-threatening injury in Rome

Tom Eustace, a young Carlow man who experienced a tragic accident leaving him with life-threatening injuries while in Rome, is now recovering back in Ireland.

Tom had been attending a friend's wedding with his girlfriend, which happened in June of this year.

As per an update shared on the GoFundMe from July 10, 2024:

"Tom travelled home to Ireland today. He is in hospital in Dublin, in a spinal ward.
He has come so far and we are so grateful for the all the prayers, fundraisers and kind wishes.
Keep the faith and prayers going."

The fundraiser, at the time of writing, is at €207,741 and still accepting donations through the link HERE

Tom's girlfriend, Miriam, also shared an update thanking those who have donated back in June:

"How could we possibly express our gratitude to all of you who have helped fundraise, shared our GoFundMe, and sent us messages, calls, and voice notes? We were fortunate to share good news about Tom, not only when the walk began but also when it concluded. However, not every day is filled with celebration and joy. Sometimes, I wonder if continuing the walk would have kept him on the path to recovery. We are on this roller coaster with Tom, and he is still very sick.

"In our darkest moments, we question how we will get through this nightmare, but then we look at the support from back home and know that's how we will do it. Your continued support has given us unimaginable strength that I cannot fully explain. We have a long road of ups and downs ahead, but your support makes the bad days bearable and the good days even sweeter. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We love you all so dearly and know you will all continue to support us on this difficult journey."
