The news about the proposal being rejected was posted about by Carlow County Councillor, Will Paton which he describes as a "very common sense decision":

"In a very common sense decision, An Board Pleanala has rejected Carlow County Council's Planning Department's demand to demolish 14 existing houses at Glendale Estate, Shillelagh Road, Tullow.

An Bord Pleanala has granted full permission to Nimbus Property Company Limited to finally finish out the estate without any demolitions. The Board ruled that, it "did not concur with the Planning Authority that the development will materially contravene the provisions of Carlow County Development Plan as the existing structures on site were the subject of a previous planning permission on this site."

Nimbus has been granted permission to complete the estate as per drawing submitted to the Council in May 2023 as amended by further drawings and plans submitted to An Bord Pleanala in July 2023. The construction of eight new houses on the site cannot commence until all infrastructure and site works serving the existing houses have been completed. Please note that this is a private development and not a social housing development."
