County Carlow receives benefits from new upgraded water mains replacement

County Carlow is set to benefit from new double watermains replacement totally almost 9km of upgraded mains.

Uisce Éireann have announced the success of the upgrades recently.

The benefits for Carlow have been that have been outlined by Uisce Éireann are as follows:

This will have several benefits such as providing a more secure water supply for customers in the area, significantly reducing the volume of drinking water lost into the ground, as well as lessening the risk of bursts and other operational issues. It will also support future economic and social growth in the area.

The works which also involved the laying of new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to their water supply, began in late 2023 and was completed last month. It was carried out by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd. on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

Dave Murphy, Prgramme Manager of Usice Éireann have this to say on the project.

"We wish to extend our thanks to the local communities for their patience and cooperation while these essential leakage repair works were carried out,” said Dave. “Were delighted to have completed them as they will have a positive impact in their local area."
