Groups from two Carlow Schools have qualified for the BT Young Scientist Exhibition

Two local Carlow schools have had their projects qualify for the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.

The two schools are St Mary's Academy and St Leo's College.

The BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition is an annual competition for students across Ireland to compete with their school's at the this national science competition. The competition has 250 prizes, with a prize fund of €50,000.

St Mary's Academy's project is in the Health and Wellbeing category and it is a two person group with the title of their project being 'The Gradual Decline of Hearing with Age.'

The St Leo's College project is in the technology category and is a two person group with the title of 'Which Wood You Rather? An investigation into the concealed effects of chemically-treated wood have on biodiversity and nature'
