Local Carlow community group, Tullow Mens Shed, has been successful in a grant application and has received €110,000.

The funding will be used for refurbishments to their facility in County Carlow, as they have been doing their business out of the old Health Centre in Tullow which had been closed down for over 15 years.

Writing on their Facebook account Tullow Mens Shed wrote:

"We got some of the most fantastic news this morning back at the end of 2023 we applied for a grant from central government and Carlow County Council to help us renovate Tullow Mens Shed
We are over the moon to say we have been successful as you're probably where we've been in the old health centre in tullow which before we got six years ago was closed down for over 15 years we've been happy enough what we have but now we're gonna have a state of the art center that will benefit all our members and also the community I would like to thank our committee for all the support in helping us get this over the line and also Carlow County Council and all the councillors and TDS in Carlow Kilkenny
Shoulder to shoulder we can make a difference"

Carlow Councillor Ben Ward congratulates the group and says:

"I am passionate about supporting the men’s shed and the great work that they do to bring men together in a safe space to have fun and work.

This funding came from the Community Recognition Fund which aims to support the development of community infrastructure and facilities for the entire community in recognition of the contribution being made by communities across the country in welcoming and hosting significant numbers of arrivals from Ukraine and other countries."
Fair play to the Mens Shed and I'm sure the funding will be put to good use!
