A caretaker will be hired for Carlow cemetery following behavior labeled 'unacceptable'

During a discussion at the most recent March Carlow County Council it has been confirmed that the Council are in the process of hiring a new full-time caretaker for St Mary's Cemetery located on the Old Dublin Road in Carlow.

This come after growing concern in recent months over "anti-social behaviour" and has been labelled as "unacceptable" by Carlow Councillor Paul Doogue.

Stepping in for Cheif Executive, Coilín O'Reilly, Director of Services Pádraig O'Gorman said that they have "additional signage up" and have "approval for full-time caretaker."

He went on to say they will be in the process of hiring the caretaker with someone being hired for the role later in the year.

Cllr Paul Doogue took to his social media account after the Council meeting to comment on the news:

"Delighted to let people know that a full time caretaker is going to be appointed for St Mary’s cemetery. After raising it at our MD area meeting on the 27th February, I’m delighted it’s now going to happen later on in the year. Carlow County Council announced it today at our full council meeting. Thank you Carlow County Council. "
