ALERT: Plans in place to slash speed limit on major stretch of roads in County Carlow

Carlow County Council has given notice of its intentions to change speed limits on two major roads that run through County Carlow.

The notice posted on the Carlow Council website makes notice of its intention to make Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws in respects of two National Secondary roads in the County.

The two roads in question are the N80 and N81 that run through County Carlow, and the speed limits on the mentioned roads is changing from 100 km/h to 80km/h.

Notice on the consultation section of the Carlow County County website states:

"The draft National Secondary Road Special Speed Limits proposes the advanced implementation of the proposed National Default Speed Limit reduction from 100km/h to 80 km/h on National Secondary Roads within the County of Carlow, including the N80 and N81."

The statement by the Council goes on to say that review of urban speed limits and a full County speed limit review will be carried out:

"Please note that a separate review of Urban Speed Limits and a full County Speed Limit review will be carried out and these are not included or the subject of this draft."

The plans are available to view on the Council's submission website or by visiting Council buildings in Carlow Town, Tullow, and Bagenalstown.
