A number of Carlow community projects receive share of €17 million funding

The funding was announced on Thursday the 5th of June and centres around sports clubs, community centres, parks, recreational trails, and play and sensory spaces

A number of Carlow community services and projects have gotten a share of national funding of €17 shared 212 community projects, 7 Carlow groups are part of the funding.

The Carlow groups received funding of €659,500 as part of the national funding.

Speaking on the funding, Minister Calleary said:

“I am very happy to be making a further announcement under the Community recognition Fund which will build on the 349 projects previously announced under the 2024 scheme. The announcement today will mean that over 1,450 projects have now been awarded funding under the Community Recognition Fund in just over two years.

“The Community Recognition Fund continues to support the cities, towns and villages that welcomed new arrivals to their communities in recent years. This funding has enabled communities to be more inclusive and resilient through the provision and enhancement of a range of community facilities and community spaces.”

The Carlow groups receiving the funding are as follows:

Bagenalstown Cricket Club - €56,000 - Mowing equipment

St Lazerian's Special School - €160,000 - Provision of accessible walking track and upgrade of playground equipment

Éire Óg - Refurbishment of walking track - €117,000

Carlow County Development Partnership - Purchase of accessible minibus - €86,500

Carlow Lawn Tennis Club - Resurfacing works to car park - €100,000

St Patrick's GAA Club - Team shelters and ground enhancement works - €70,000

Parkville UTD AFC - Refurbishment and enhancement works - €70,000
