Carlow's very own firefighter, Geraldine Strahan, was selected to represent Ireland's Women's Fire Service Network.
Geraldine, based in Hacketstown Fire Station was the first female firefighter to join the ranks of Carlow County Fire & Rescue.

The news was posted by Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service on their Facebook account and it reads:
"Congratulations to our very own FF Geraldine Strahan who is based at Hacketstown Fire Station and was selected to represent Ireland's Women's Fire Service Network (WFSN) attending the Women in the Fire Service Training & Development Event 2025 hosted at the Fire Service College, Morten-in-Marsh, UK. Geraldine travelled with other WFSN members from Meath, Kerry & Clare Fire Services.
Geraldine was the first female Firefighter to join the ranks of Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service in 2019. She participated in an Authentic leadership workshop, Empowering and Equipping Women for Excellence workshop & competed in a Firefighter Fitness Challenge amongst other events.
We look forward to hearing about the event and any ideas Geraldine can bring back to our County Fire Service."
