An incident last Saturday at a local Carlow shop involving a "very abusive customer" took place but one kind gesture at the end of the won out.
The incident happened at Doyle's Royal Oak Stores in Bagenalstown, Carlow and the shop posted to their social media account saying:
"Last Saturday one of our more experienced staff members had to deal with a very abusive customer. This man may have felt better himself after releasing a tirade of abuse to our staff member but please bear in mind we are all human and it’s hard to shake off those words and not let it get in on you."

But that's not the end of the story, as later the same day the shop says that "we had a lucky customer who had a big win in the lotto. They tipped the same staff member generously. To them we say thank you & you had no idea how important this gesture was to the our team member."
Comments under the post are full of support for the member of staff who endured the abuse, with one user commenting:
"Nobody should have to tolerate this type of behaviour. Everyone is doing their best and customers need to respect that. Make sure your staff know how well they’re thought of by the majority of your customers. Well done for highlighting this!"

"Good to see employers stepping up and calling this out"
