Electric Picnic has revealed details of a new area on the grounds of the popular festival.
Imelda May and Wallis Bird are just two of the confirmed acts performing at Croí, the brand-new source of positive energy and joy at the core of the Main Arena.
Described as "a harmonious hub of music, movement and meditative activities", Croí is home to two music stages (Croí and Crescent Earth) for those who love poetry, dance and meditation.
From the contemporary to the traditional, the Croí stage will celebrate the manifold of Irish creativity following its profound and unique musical evolution from the 1970s to the present.
Attendees can expect brass sections, bodhráns, gospel choirs, sean nós singers, rock bands and hip-hop MCs. From the ambient to the electronic and all in between, the originality of the Irish music scene will be showcased in all its glory.
Activities around the Croí area will include high-energy belly dancing, twerk workshops, uplifting dance classes, womb love sessions, yoga, spoken word performances, nervous system reset workshops, and shamanic journey workshops.
If you’re looking to take part in something a little different, festival-goers can take part in an endless piece of music. Each performance of this show is a continuation of the overarching musical composition entitled "We'll All Still Be Here", where a large group of musicians - the Still Be Here Collective - occupy the space, playing entirely improvised music for up to seven hours!
Anyone may approach the microphone whenever they feel; read your poetry, speak about your day, whatever you feel is appropriate. The golden rule is that each performance is in seven movements.
You can also avail of the six wood-fired hot tubs, large sauna and three cold dunk tanks in the area.
The Danish woodfired saunas and hot tubs are made to restore and rebalance, and are the perfect way to reset for the day ahead.
Electric Picnic takes place between September 1 and September 3 in Stradbally, Co Laois.
