Westmeath Bachelor of the Year 2023 winner with Louis Wash
Calling all single men! Anne Doyle and Louis Walsh are on the hunt for Ireland’s most eligible bachelor.
The Westmeath Bachelor Competition 2024 takes place in Mullingar on Friday August 2 and applications to take part in this prestigious title open today.
It’s time for the men of Ireland to step into the spotlight and show the nation they have what it takes to be the face of Ireland’s modern man! Age is not a barrier once you are over 18, a good head of hair and your own teeth is preferable but not necessary!
And what better person to judge the contestants than a veteran of spotting talent, returning judge Louis Walsh. And back joining the maestro on the panel is the doyenne of Irish media, the one and only Anne Doyle. Last year this judging duo were joined by celebrity couple Pippa and Brian Ormond as guest judges.
Last year’s bachelor finalists were whittled down from hundreds of entrants who had to undergo rigorous questioning from the celeb judging panel, as well as perform a talent piece.
In what was a tense, nail-biting final, 29-year-old Westmeath man Ciaran Clarke was crowned winner after impressing the judges and wowing the audience with his self-penned song which he performed on guitar and harmonica.
Despite the intense competition, the judges were unanimous in their choice of winner, who won them over with his charismatic personality and captivating performance, and he was an equally popular choice with the audience who couldn’t get enough of him!
Along with the title of Westmeath Bachelor, the winner receives an all-inclusive holiday, a new wardrobe that would be the envy of James Bond himself and a cash donation to his chosen charity.
In other Westmeath Bachelor Festival weekend news, Friday August 2 will also see The Bachelor Barndance /Hoedown with the best of Ireland's American country jive on show with vintage USA cars, rodeo bulls, the Garth Brooks tribute band and much more.
Saturday August 3 will see some of the 90s biggest bands hit the stage to bring back those nostalgic disco hits on the dance floor. And culminating the weekend festivities on Sunday August 4 will be The Wolfe Tones from promoters MCD.
As part of their 60th Anniversary tour, The Wolfe Tones will play The Bachelor Dome tent in Blackhall carpark with support from Gary O'Brien, Fieldsy, Some One’s Sons and George Murphy & the Rising Sons. Wolfe Tones tickets will go on sale on Friday February 23, 2024 at 9am, get them here.
