Well-known influencer asked Irish singer for €3,000 to 'promote' his song in her video

An Irish singer-songwriter has said his jaw "hit the floor" when he was asked to pay €3,000 to an Irish influencer to promote his song.

The music career of Dáwna has been on an upward trajectory since his hit 'Blue and Gold' became an anthem for the All-Ireland-winning Tipperary senior hurlers in 2025.

Dáwna, aka Conor Fahey, wrote the song in less than forty minutes after beginning to sing it to his daughter as he was putting her to sleep at night.

A lover of the Irish language, Conor picked the name Dáwna, meaning bold or brave. Some people, he said, thought it a strange choice, but he believes it has really caught on now, given the resurgence of the Irish language.

It's fair to say he encountered a 'bold' Irish influencer recently as they tried to get him to pay for them to promote his new song, the catchy Damhsa Le Mo Chailín. Conor said his jaw "hit the floor."

He posted on TikTok: "An Irish influencer (you probably know the one) quoted me €3,000 to use this song in her video to promote it. Anyway, can barely afford me Weetabix so I'm just going to dance in front of the mirror instead."

The interaction shocked his fans and the video has since gone viral with almost 500,000 views on TikTok alone. A number of other prominent Irish TikTok users offered their support by using the song in their videos which could then earn Dáwna revenue on the platform.

One said: "Saving this sound for my next vlog because Irish people should be supporting each other out of kindness."

Another joked: "I’ll use it on my TikToks and every time I eat Weetabix I’ll listen to it."

Dáwna has not revealed the identity of the influencer who approached him with the cheeky proposition but has shot down some guesses in his comments section.
