A number of companies in counties Carlow and Tipperary are to benefit from funding through an EU programme that connects organisations, businesses and communities in West Wales with the South East of Ireland.

€1.3 million is to be made available through the Ireland-Wales programme to 60 businesses as part of the "Catalyst" scheme to develop new products and access to EU and global markets.

Grace Bolton of the European Commission office in Ireland says the EU fund will be administered through the University of Wales via Carlow Institute of Technology as well as Carlow and Tipperary County Councils.
