Calls for a 'little more thought' to be put into painting of vacant commercial premises

Councillor hits out and calls for more 'traditional' shopfronts with some Irish
Calls have been made for a "little more thought" to be put into the painting of vacant commercial premises in Carlow Town.
Cllr Jim Deane has hit out at the local authority over the painting of the properties and called for more "traditional" shopfronts with some Irish on them.
He was speaking at the recent meeting of Carlow Municipal District while Cllr Fergal Browne said: "I'm not overly enamoured with the Council wasting money creating murels in the windows of premises. I'd rather see the businesses being used.
"It's the biggest issue on the doorsteps. People are nostalgic and they would love to the see the heart of Carlow Town back again."
