Carlow County Council management invited to attend Women's Refuge Campaign meeting

Should they go?
Carlow County Council management are being invited to attend a Women's Refuge Campaign meeting.
Carlow is one of nine counties with no emergency refuge accommodation for victims of domestic violence and their children, new figures have revealed.
The campaign group for a women's refuge in Carlow are holding an open meeting this Wednesday in the Irishmans Bar, College Street at 8pm and they are inviting Council officials and elected members to join them.
Organisers said: "We are all very eager to see the women's refuge materialize and believe all sides need to work together to see this through. We would love to hear of any updates and indeed any barriers that have been encountered.
"We recognise and welcome the cross-party support for the women's refuge by our elected Council members and hope we can continue to rely on your support.
"I'm sure everyone is aware of the escalating numbers of people entering into homelessness, this coupled with domestic violence means women and children are at the sharp end of this crisis.
"We believe that the sooner we can work to deliver the women's refuge the better."
