Following Carlow Gardaí receiving a number of of fake car insurance documentation

The Carlow Roads Policing unit have released a warning to drivers across County Carlow in relation to fake insurance brokers and companies.

This comes after the Carlow Gardaí have received documents (like shown above) over the past few weeks by drivers, having claimed to have purchased them online.

The full statement from the Carlow Gardaí Facebook reads:

"Over the last few weeks our members in Carlow Roads Policing have been handed documents similar to these as proof of car insurance. The drivers have claimed to have purchased them online. These documents are not genuine insurance certificates and your vehicle is not covered. Our ANPR units and Mobility devices will detect if your vehicle does not have insurance regardless of what is displayed on the windscreen. Only buy your car insurance from legitimate insurance companies and brokers. Driving on a public road without insurance will result in prosecution and your vehicle being seized."
