The athlete from Carlow is Finn Lynch who is going to be competing in the Men's Dinghy. Here is Finn's biography from the official Team Ireland release:
"Born in Australia and living in Carlow since he was two, Finn started sailing on Blessington Lakes when he was eight. A silver medallist at World Youth Championships in 2012, he was World U19 champion in 2014, and has been training full-time since he completed his Leaving Cert. He was only 20 when he made his Olympic debut in Rio 2016 placing 32nd overall, but was deeply disappointed not to qualify for Tokyo 2020. He bounced back by winning World silver in Barcelona in 2021, also finishing ninth at Europeans in the same year. In 2022 he was sixth at the Worlds and rose to number two in the world rankings. He secured the Irish berth for Paris 2024 at the combined Sailing World Championships at The Hague in August 2023. In January of this year he finished ninth at the Worlds in Australia; his third top 10 at that level in four years, and a month later took bronze at the Europeans. Finn was also sixth at the 2023 Paris test event, narrowly missing the podium in a very tight medal race."
