Former Leinster and Connacht Rugby union player and Carlow man, Thomas Daly, has announced his retirement from rugby following a 12 year career in the sport.
Posted to his Instagram account, Thomas, said that he feels "so privileged" to have had 12 years in the sport.
When talking about his time playing for Leinster he said "To play for Leinster, the team I grew up supporting, was a dream come true for me."
Thomas spent the majority of his career playing for Connacht, playing for the side for a 6 stretch of his career, which he describes as the "6 best years of my life with Connacht. To captain the province was the highlight of my career. Galway will always feel like home."

He also gave a special mention to Carlow Rugby Club "where my journey began and where I first fell in love with the game. It’s the place that shaped me into the player I am today. And to Lansdowne, thank you for playing such a significant role in my career."
Comments under the Instagram post were full of support for the Carlow man saying:
"Honoured and proud to have you as a Carlow member! Massive best of luck with everything in the future from all the club "
Another reads:
"Legend some shift. The mail room is going to be quite now"
