What's the secret to perfect crispy roast potatoes? TikTok chef shares simple hack
Is there anything better than potatoes?, they are a staple to every Irish meal and having many different kinds on the Christmas dinner table is a tradition.
A TikTok chef, best known as The Great British Cook, shared the perfect roast potato recipe for the special day.
The chef shared a video to his social media on how to make the perfect crispy roasties with the following recipe.
@thegreatbritishcook Get ready for Christmas Ep.2, Crispy Roast Potatoes Ingredients Maris Piper Potatoes Duck Fat/ Beef Fat / Veg Oil, enough to cover your roasting tray Heat your chosen form of fat in a 200°C oven for 1 hour before cooking. Peel, dice and boil your potatoes with a pinch of salt until fork tender. Drain, return to the pan and shake until uneven edges start forming, this helps with crispiness. Very carefully add to your hot fat and make sure all the poatotes are fully coated in the fat. Roast for 30 mins before flipping, coating in the fat again and roasting for another 20 minutes. You will need potatoes and Duck Fat/ Beef Fat / Veg Oil, enough to cover your roasting tray.
Step one: Heat your chosen form of fat in a 200°C oven for 1 hour before cooking.
Step two: Peel, dice and boil your potatoes with a pinch of salt until fork tender.
Step three: Drain, return to the pan and shake until uneven edges start forming, this helps with crispiness.
Step four: Very carefully add to your hot fat and make sure all the potatoes are fully coated in the fat.
Step five: Roast for 30 mins before flipping, coating in the fat again and roasting for another 20 minutes.
Step six: Flip and coat one more time and roast until you get a crisp glassy exterior with a fluffy middle!
