Carlow County Council chief executive, Kathleen Holohan, has hit out at "some media reports" that Bagenalstown Fire Station is subject to a "rodent infestation".

A councillor recently brought up what he termed as the "disappointing" standards of Bagenalstown Fire Station saying the staff deserve better.
Carlow Live reported on comments made by Cllr Andy Gladney at the November meeting of the full Council.
Cllr Gladney said he had attended a recent opening evening at the station and found floor covering ripped up and stuck with duct tape with "poison for rodents all over the place".
"These men deserve better. The kitchen in it is very, very small," he added.
Ms Holohan has said: "Contrary to some media reports, the station, as part of the fire services anti-rodent policy has the same rodent controls as all other stations within the county and is not subject to rodent infestation."
A report on this website about Cllr Gladney's comments, made no reference to a "rodent infestation", and accurately reported on Cllr Gladney's contribution at a Council meeting.
