The late Josephine (Josie) Swann

The death has occurred of Josephine (Josie) Swann of Willow Park, Athlone, Co. Westmeath and formerly Carlow Town, Co. Carlow.

Josie passed away peacefully on the 31st December 2023 at The Retreat Nursing Home, Athlone.

Pre-deceased by her mother Mary and father Daniel, sisters Anne and Evelyn and brother Daniel. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Betty, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and work colleagues in The ESB Athlone.

The late Angela Nolan (née Dreelan)

The death has occurred of Angela Nolan (née Dreelan) of 45 Fr. Byrne Park, Graiguecullen, Carlow and formerly of Graiguenamanagh, Co Kilkenny.

Angela passed away peacefully, on December 31st, 2023, at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of the late Noel, much loved mother of Sandra, Robert, Daniel and James and adored grandmother of Katie and Jackson. She will be sadly missed by her loving sons, daughter, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

The late John Murphy

The death has occurred of John Murphy of An Caorán Beag, Carraroe, Galway and formerly of Regent St, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow.

John died peacefully in the tender care of the staff of Galway University Hospital in his 100th year.

Predeceased by his wife Annie, his parents, Arthur & Catherine Murphy, brother Tom and sister Margaret.

John will be sadly missed by his brothers in law, Eamon and Johnny, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Reposing at Lydon’s Funeral Home Carraroe H91HK4K, on Tuesday 2nd of January from 6 to 8 pm with removal to St Mc Dara Church, Carraroe.

Requiem Mass on Wednesday, in St Mac Dara’s Church, Carraroe, at 12 noon followed by burial in Barr a Doire Cemetery.

The late James (Jim) Byrne

The death has occurred of James (Jim) Byrne of Hawkin's Lane, Tullow, Carlow

Jim passed away suddenly at home. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Mary and his parents James and Agnes. Adored father of Fidelma, David and Karen and cherished grandfather of Samantha, Ella, Jamie and Oscar. Sadly missed by his heartbroken sisters Mary (Furlong), Rita (Goulding) and Úna (Brennan), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, kind neighbours and a wide circle of friends and former work colleagues.

Reposing at Byrne's Funeral Directors, The Square, Tullow, Co. Carlow (eircode R93 P4F4) on Tuesday 2 January from 3pm - 6.30pm.

Removal will take place at 6.45pm to Church of The Most Holy Rosary, Tullow to arrive for Reception prayers at 7pm.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am, followed by burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Tullow.
