Tributes paid as man involved in suspected hit and run in Carlow is named locally

Tributes are being paid to the man who died in a road traffic collision in County Carlow on the evening of Wednesday the 24th 2024.

The man has been named locally as Tom Connors of Bunclody, County Wexford.

The incident which occurred at Sandbook, a local road between Rathoe and Ballon. The incident involved a collision between motorbike and a car. With the occupants of the car failing to remain at the scene and the car that was involved being found by Gardaí, burnt out at the location.

Tributes have been paid on Facebook following the incident and read as follows:

"Condolences to all his family and frds shame on the person that left him there no respect to life."

Another reads: "Rest in peace, thoughts and prayers with his family and friends at this sad time."

A third user said: "God rest his soul. Deepest condolences to his family and friends."

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling on the road between Rathoe and Ballon or the in surrounding areas, between 10:00 pm and midnight on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
