Tributes paid to Carlow man who was 'a lovely friendly, chatty man' following his passing

Stephen Henry (Harry) Smyth - Saturday 24th August 2024

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Stephen Henry (Harry) Smyth of Ballinabranna, Bilboa, County Carlow.

Stephen passed away after a short illness surrounded by his loving family at St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved husband of the late Frances, father of the late Philip and Raymond and brother of the late Annie. Sadly missed by his loving son Alan, daughter Lorraine, brother Willie, sister Tilly, son-in-law Nigel, daughters-in-law Suzanne and Muriel, grandchildren Raissa, Kelsey, Agetha, Ambriel, Quentin, Andrew, Stephen, Ben, Noah, Dylan, Jamie and Megan, brother-in-law John, sisters-in-law Yvonne and Marian, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

Tributes have been paid on condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows:

"Sincere Sympathy to the Smyth Family, I shared a ward in ST Lukes with Henry, a lovely chatty friendly man, may he Rest In Peace."

Another reads: "Deepest condolences to Alan & Lorraine on the passing of your father Harry & to the extended Smyth family. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. He was a gentleman & a good neighbour. May he rest in peace."

A third user writes: "Harrys passing has left a great void with all who knew him. A man who always had a great smile and had great intellect whenever a conversation was entered into with him. A hard worker who enjoyed life to the full. May hs Rest In Peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing on Tuesday (August 27th) at the home of his daughter Lorraine (R93 PW28) from 2.30pm concluding with prayers at 8.30pm. Funeral Service on Wednesday at 2.30pm in St. John the Evangelist Church, Cloydagh, Carlow (R93 T953). Burial afterwards in adjoining churchyard.

House on Wednesday for family and relatives only, please.
