Tributes paid to Graiguecullen woman who was a 'wonderful seamstress' following her passing

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Philomena (Philly) Whelan nee Power of Hillview Nursing Home and formerly of 30 Pacelli Avenue, Graiguecullen, Carlow.

Philomena passed away in the gentle loving care of Hillview Nursing home in her 93rd year on November 4th 2024.

Predeceased by her husband Michael, daughter Elizabeth, sister Mary and brother Michael. Survived by her sons Ger and Pat, daughter Julie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"God bless Philly. May she Rest In Peace. She was a wonderful seamstress and made my wedding outfit over 50 years ago. "

Another reads:

"Deepest condolences to the Whelan family on the passing of their mam. Philly was a lovely lady and great with a sewing machine. May she rest in peace with all her loved ones, gone before her."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home, Pollerton Castle on Tuesday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of the Holy Family, Askea to arrive for funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
