Tributes paid to Carlow woman who was 'always ready for a chat' following her passing

Doreen Kelly (née Lillis) - Pairc Mhuire, Bagenalstown, Carlow - Thursday 16th January 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Doreen Kelly (née Lillis) of Pairc Mhuire, Bagenalstown, Carlow.

Doreen passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on the 16th January 2025.

Predeceased by her parents Martin and Dora, her beloved husband Jack, sisters Bridget and May and her son Seamus who died in infancy. Deeply regretted by her children, Dolores, Siobhan, Padraig, Martin, John, Sam, Paul, Peter, Mary and Liam, her brother Peter, 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, kind neighbours and good friends in Pairc Mhuire.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere condolences on Doreen's passing, she was a lovely lady, always ready for a chat also a great neighbour and a friend, RIP Doreen."

Another reads: 

"Sincere sympathies to the Kelly and Lillis families. Mrs. Kelly was a great friend of my mother and we had great craic meeting with her and she telling us of stories of herself and mammy long ago - may her gentle soul Rest in Peace "

Funeral arrangements

Reposing at Cushen’s Funeral Home, Kilcarrig Street, Bagenalstown (Eircode; R21 V127) on Friday, 17th January, from 2pm until 8pm, with prayers at 6pm. Removal from her daughter Siobhan’s residence on Saturday, 18th January, to arrive at St. Andrew’s Church, Bagenalstown for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by burial in The Cemetery of the Assumption, Bagenalstown.
