Tributes paid to a Carlow man who was a 'great character' following his passing

Michael (Mickey) Begley - Carlow Town, Carlow - Tuesday 28th January 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Michael (Mickey) Begley of McGamhna Rd Carlow.

Michael passed away surrounded by his loving family in St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny on January 28th 2025.

Beloved husband of the late Mary, much loved father of Geraldine, Liz, Mick, Bella and the late Brenda and cherished brother of Paddy and the late Tom, Dick, Seany and Kathleen,

He will be sadly missed by his loving son, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Stacia, sons-in-law George, James and John, brother, sister-in-law Peggy, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere condolences to all the Begley family on the passing of Mickey. Another great character gone from our town. May he rest in peace."

Another reads:

"Sincere condolences to Geraldine Elizabeth Mick Bella on the sad passing of your Daddy, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time ,May Mickey,s gentle soul rest in peace amen"

Funeral arrangements

Reposing at Carpenters Funeral Home, Shamrock Square, Carlow (Eircode R93 C863) on Thursday, January 30th, from 4pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm that evening. Removal from there on Friday at 9.45am to The Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am. Funeral afterwards to St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow for burial.
