RIP: Tributes paid to Carlow woman who was 'true lady' following her passing

Elizabeth (Lil) Drea (née Holmes) - Dunleckney, Bagenalstown, Carlow - Tuesday 20th May 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Elizabeth (Lil) Drea (née Holmes) of Dunleckney, Bagenalstown, Carlow.

Elizabeth passed away peacefully on May 20th 2025 at the Sacred Heart Hospital Carlow surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her husband Paddy, sons Michael and Declan and grandaughter Simone.

Lil will be forever loved and always remembered by her children Siobhán, Eamonn, Angela and Padraic, her many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and especially her close companion and best friend Peter Kelly.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Our deepest sympathy to the Drea & Holmes family and to Peter on the sad passing of Lil and such a lovely quiet lady when she attended Tuesday Daycare. RIP Lil."

Another reads:

"Heartbroken to hear of the sad passing of Lil, a true lady and wonderful childhood neighbour, thank you for all the happy memories. Sending my heart felt condolences to all the family. May her gentle soul rest in peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing in Somers Funeral Home Bagenalstown (R21 DY66) on Wednesday 21st from 2.pm to 8.pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday Morning in St. Lazerian's Church Leighlinbridge at 11.am, followed by burial afterwards in the Cemetery of the Assumption Bagenalstown.

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to The Sacred Heart Hospital Carlow.
