RIP: Tributes paid to Carlow man who was a 'privilege and an honor to know'

John Cahill (Cahill’s Kitchens) - Oak Park, Carlow - June 8th 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of John Cahill (Cahill's Kitchens) of Mountain View, Oak Park, Carlow.

John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on June 8th 2025, at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved husband of Maureen, much loved father of Niall, Geraldine, Sinead and Kieran, adored grandfather of Greg, Natasha, Jamie, Chloe, Conor, Skylar, Maeve and Emily, cherished brother of Laura, Patricia and the late Marita and treasured father-in-law of Regina, Niav, Paul and the late James.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"So sorry to hear of the Passing of your Dad.
sending you and your family my kindest thoughts at this tough time.
Catherine"

Another reads:

"Sincere condolences Maureen, Niall, Geraldine, Sinead, Kieran, & entire extended families on the sad passing of John R.I.P.

It was such a privilege and honour to know John - he was an incredibly smart and thoughtful man."

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing at his home, Aughanure, Oak Park (Eircode R93 Y0A4) on Monday (June 9th) from 6pm and all day on Tuesday with Prayers at 7pm on Tuesday evening. Removal from there on Wednesday at 12.30pm to The Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, arriving for Funeral Mass at 1pm. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.
