Tributes paid to Carlow native whose 'smile was wonderful' following her passing

Iris Byrne - Borris, Carlow - Monday 9th June 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Iris Byrne (nee James) of Cournellan, Borris, Carlow and formerly of Liverpool, England.

Iris passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff at St Lukes Hospital, Kilkenny on the 9th of June 2025.

Predeceased by her son Gerard. She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband Pat, son Sean and daughter Carmel, their partners Ann and James, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her cousins Charles and Michael, sisters in law Nancy and Kathleen,brother in law Simon, her extended family and large circle of friends.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere condolences to the Byrne family on the death of Iris .Such a lovely lady + her smile was wonderful. Knew her when she would call to us in the laundry/drycleaners. Sad to hear of her death. May she rest in peace "

Another reads: 

"My sincere sympathy to Pat Sean and Carmel and all Iris's extended family. Fond memories of teenage years hanging out in Borris! Rest in peace Iris! Lovely lady"

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing in Joyce’s Funeral Home, Borris, Wednesday (11 th June) from 4pm- 8pm. Funeral
Mass on Thursday 12 th June at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballymurphy (Eircode R95
HR28). Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
