RIP: Tributes paid to Carlow native that was a 'great neighbour and friend'

Breda Doran (née O’Hara) - Quinagh, Carlow / Sligo - Wednesday 11th June 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Breda Doran (née O’Hara) of Cluain Buí, Quinagh, Carlow and formerly of Ballinacarrig, Carlow and Carrowmore, Sligo.

Breda passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on June 11th 2025, under the wonderful care of the nurses and staff of Hillview Nursing Home, Carlow.

Beloved wife of Michael, much loved mother of Stephanie, Mark and Peter and adored grandmother of Saoirse, Croíadh, Seímí, Conall, Robyn, Cathal, Laoise and Niamh.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, sons, daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law Colin, daughters-in-law Andrea and Laura, brothers Michael and Stephen, sisters Mary, Irín, Carmel and Dymphna, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere condolences to Michael, Stephanie, Mark and Peter on the passing of Breda. Many a great night we had together celebrating in the clubhouse after a Tinryland juvenile football match and loads of fun and mischief from Breda travelling to and from matches. A great neighbour and friend. May she rest in peace now."

Another reads: 

"Sincere condolences to all of Bredas family. I have fond memories of working with Breda in St Dympnas many years ago. Delighted that we reconnected some time ago & enjoyed her company when we met up. She adored her family & was very proud of them & they in turn have been very devoted to her. May she now Rest in heavenly peace."

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing at Carpenter Bros Funeral Home, Shamrock Sq (Eircode R93 C863) on Friday (June 13th) from 4pm until 7pm that evening. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 11am in The Holy Family Church, Askea, followed by burial afterwards in Ballinabranna Cemetery, Carlow.
