RIP: 'So much craic and so much warmth' Tributes paid to Carlow man

Thomas McMANUS - Carlow Town, Carlow / Phibsborough, Dublin - Tuesday 17th June 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Thomas McManus of Poachers Gate, Burrin Road, Carlow and Katz Restaurant, Hanover Shopping Centre and 7 Berkeley St., Phibsborough, Dublin,

Thomas passed away nexpectedly but peacefully, on June 17th, 2025, at The Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow.

Beloved husband of Kathy (Kathleen), much loved father of Cillian and Enda, adored grandfather of Odhrán, Croía and Lillie, cherished brother of Carmel and the late Shay and treasured son of the late Mathew and Lily.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, grandchildren, daughter-in-law
Lizzie, sister, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere sympathy to all the McMANUS family on the sad passing of Tom. I have many fond memories of the KATZ restaurant. Tom was always a gentleman to meet and have a chat with. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time."

Another reads: 

"So many fantastic memories of our Uncle Tom. So many stories, so much craic and so much warmth and kindness to his nephews and nieces. We’re thinking of you all at this very sad time. Conor, Aoife, Neil, Sara and Farah."

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing at his home, 17 The Weir, Poachers Gate, Burrin Road (Eircode R93 CV04) from 5pm until 8pm on Wednesday, June 18th, with Prayers at 6.30pm that evening. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 10 am in The Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow followed by burial afterwards Sleaty New Cemetery.
