RIP: 'A man admired by all' Tributes paid following the passing of Carlow man

Gene Kelly - Tullow Road, Carlow - June 24th 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Gene Kelly of Tullow Road, Carlow.

Gene passed away peacefully on June 24th in the gentle care of the Barrow Ward, St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny previously in the kind care of the Beacon Hospital, Dublin

Beloved husband of Frances and dear father of Stephen, Robert and Karen. Sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughter, grandchildren KerrieAnn, Amy, Shannon, Luke, Josh and Raymond, great-grandchildren Rian, Willow, Archie, Leo, Sophie, Luke and Amelia, son-in-law Paul, Robert’s partner Bernie, KerrieAnn’s husband Oisin, Shannon’s husband to be Shane, Josh’s partner Avril, Luke’s partner Anna, Raymond’s partner Karolina, brother, sisters, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and great friends. Predeceased by his daughter-in-law Pam.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere condolences to Shannon and all of the Kelly family on the sad passing of Gene. By all accounts a man admired by all, and a huge loss to his community. May Gene Rest in Peace."

Another reads: 

"Deepest condolences to Gene's Family on your great loss. I had the pleasure of spending some time with him on golf trips to Donegal and Sligo organised by his great friend Tom Small. Gene was an absolute gentleman. RIP"

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home Pollerton Castle, Carlow on Thursday evening from 5pm to 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Friday at 10am in the Cathedral of the Assumption. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
