Tributes have poured in for Carlow man John Lawless who sadly died after battling a long illness.

John was from Newtown, Borris in Carlow and formerly Kilkenny and passed away peacefully on Saturday 6th of September surrounded by his loving family and in the tender care of the staff of Archers Rath Nursing Home inKilkenny after bravely fighting a long illness.

Predeceased by his loving parents Tom and Rosie, niece Kirsty and an infant brother born sleeping. R.I.P.

Sadly missed by his brothers Martin, Paddy and Thomas, his sisters Bridget Mullett and Peg Whelan, his nieces Miranda, Laura, Natasha and Rachel, nephews Darren, Kieran and David, grand-niece Ellie Rose, brothers and sisters in law, relatives and friends.

Donations if desired can be made to the Carlow Kilkenny Palliative Care Team.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved John, with one mourner writing,

"Sincere sympathy to all the lawless family on the very sad and untimely passing of Jack he was a great st. Mullins man and loved his club. May he rest in peace".

Another message said, "Words cannot express how sad we are on the passing of John. So thankful for all the wonderful memories of our visits with John in his beautiful home. He will forever live in our hearts. Love and prayers to Bridget, Peg, Martin, Paddy, and Thomas and all the family."

"John you will be sadly missed by us all at Archersrath, I especially will miss the laughs and banter we had, you were a pure gentleman and it was my pleasure to care for you through your illnesses," another person said.
