Great news!

The emergency funding of €2m secured earlier this week for Rehab Care saves the services for almost 40 people in Carlow, it has been revealed.

The group said they have 30 people attending Rehab Care Carlow Resource Centre on the Killeshin Road, Graiguecullen and seven people attending Sli Eile New Directions Hub, Carlow Enterprise, House, O'Brien's Road.

The Rehab Group had said that support services for up to 3,000 people across the country - including people in Carlow with disabilities - were at serious risk due to underfunding and there was a threat of closure.

The group had threatened to terminate provision of services due to the shortfall.

Rehab Group and its Board are deeply relieved that these critical care services for more than 3,000 people throughout 117 locations can now continue to be provided.

Following negotiations with Minister for Health, Simon Harris, the group's representatives secured the funding earlier this week.

RehabCare offers life-changing care and support for the people it serves. This includes vital respite and residential services for 186 children, many with high-support needs.

It includes day services for more than 1,600 adults along with supported accommodation services which allows hundreds of people to live independently in their communities, some after leaving decades of institutional care.
