Adrian McEvoy is a dog groomer in Petmania Carlow, from Carlow Town, he shares top tips on caring for your dog’s needs.
Adrian is a pet parent to a dog and a snake and he became a dog groomer simply because he loves working with dogs.
He says “patience and lots of it” is the main quality that is needed to become a dog groomer. Petmania have a number of treatments on offer to spoil your dog.
The ‘Total Well-being’ package is Adrian’s favourite treatment to deliver.
This treatment includes a deep cleansing shampoo followed by a hydrating conditioner, Paw-dicure, Deep Cleansing Blueberry Facial, Happy Hounds Ear Clean, Breed Standard Hair Cut and Conditioning Spray.
Dogs are then be treated with a Preventative Flea & Tick Spot-on and Preventative Worming Treatment.
Adrian’s first tip for preparing your dog for a groom is simple, daily brushing.
He says, “daily brushing is essential at home, it helps to remove and prevent heavy matting. Pet owners should groom their dogs every day, depending on breed type.”
Secondly, Adrian says diet is key to a healthy dog, “my key home care tip would be to sort out your dogs’ diet. Good feed can solve a lot of issues, such as your dog’s coat.”
Unusual pet care related queries are common place in Petmania’s grooming studios. Adrian once had a request from a dog owner to shave just their dogs’ legs!
