Leading by just two points at the break (1-6 to 0-7) with Luke Donnelly scoring the goal, the Longford U-17 footballers produced a powerful second half performance to crush Carlow in the Seamus Heaney Cup quarter-final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Tuesday evening. 

Longford . . . 4-15  Carlow . . . 0-9

Tony Devlin’s Longford side were rampant in clocking up the most impressive total of 3-9 on the changeover with half-time substitute Cormac Flynn, wing back Kevin Baskett and another replacement Daniel Carey getting the goals in this demolition job as outclassed Carlow were restricted to just two points in the completely one-sided second half.
