It was a case of competing cousins in the Leinster U20 Football Championship as Carlow player Adam Burgess took to the field with his first cousin from Laois on Wednesday night.

Adam Burgess of Rathvilly was in action for Carlow while his first cousin Robbie Murphy of St Josephs lined out for Laois.

Carlow GAA explained on X: "The lads are grandsons of the great Paaks Connolly of Clonmore, Carlow & Leinster fame & sons of Trish & Francis Connolly, Minvaude, Hacketstown."

On the field, the sides shared the spoils after playing out a draw, Laois 2-10 to Carlow 1-13.
