Carlow give familiar face a three-year term as senior football manager

Carlow GAA county board have officially appointed Joe Murphy as the county's new senior football manager.

Joe Murphy took over on an interim basis during the summer when Roscommon Shane Curran stepped away from the job two weeks before the county's Leinster Championship clash with Meath.

Murphy has enjoyed a stellar managerial career in Carlow, winning two senior football titles with Old Leighlin and four-in-a-row with his own club Éire Óg. Murphy was also a senior Carlow footballer in his younger years.

The decision to give him a three-year term at the helm was announced at a county board meeting earlier this week.

At that meeting, Carlow GAA Chairperson Jim Bolger said: “I wish Joe and his Backroom Team well and assure them of the full support of the County Board and clubs of the county”.
